Nefarma has been established in 1976. Nefarma has a governing board with representatives from the pharmaceutical industry and looks after the interests of the research orientated pharmaceutical industry in the Netherlands. The companies who are members produce and/or import medicines which are on recipe available at pharmacies.

Nefarma works for a healthy entrepreneurial climate for the pharmaceutical industry. That means a climate, where companies can be market orientated. That also means a climate that offers financial space for medicine research and medicine development, because Nefarma believes that medicine is an essential and efficient part of the total health care.
