“Factors affecting the location and success of your biobusiness”
14.00 - 15.00
Waterfront

Hundreds of global cities and regions have the ambition to become an international Center of Excellence in healthcare, biopharmaceuticals and/or medical technology. The University of Stockholm found more than 130 in Europe alone.

In this parallel session Ben Engel of Buck Consultants International will present what it really takes to become a successful life sciences region. After exploring the main trends in the global sector and taking a look at the Dutch life sciences investment climate as a whole, we will zoom in on the actual ‘on the ground’ requirements of healthcare companies. What do regions (including their healthcare clusters, science & technology campuses and business parks) have to offer to fulfill the demands of a biobusiness cluster?

Examples of regions with different focal points will be presented and interaction with the participants will be encouraged. The session will address topics such as the need for focus, available (research) facilities, connectivity, national & regional location marketing and the different roles of industry, science & education and national, regional & local authorities.
